Jeanett Modise is the Chief People Officer of ABSA Group, a role she has held since January 1, 2023.
Before joining ABSA, Modise was Group Human Resources Director at Sanlam Limited from 2019. Her career in human resources spans more than 20 years, with senior positions at SAP, AngloGold Ashanti, Industrial Development Corporation, Mutual & Federal, and Hewlett Packard.
She began her professional journey as a nurse and midwife before moving into HR. Modise holds an MBL, a Senior Executive Programme from Harvard, an Advanced Management Programme, and a BCom in Business Management.
Known for her leadership and ability to deliver results, she focuses on culture, change, and transformation in fast-moving, customer-focused organizations. She is widely respected for attracting, developing, and retaining top talent. ABSA Group CEO Arrie Rautenbach has praised her appointment as a key addition to the leadership team, bringing valuable skill, experience, and diversity in line with ABSA’s ambition to be a leading pan-African bank.
